Technological research and therapeutic trends

Advances in miniaturized interconnects and optical cabling have launched a design revolution in the field of medical devices, from high-precision laser surgical tools to small, portable connected health devices.

Today’s modern medical therapeutic instruments benefit from faster speeds, wider bandwidths, fiber optics, RF and mmWave microwaves, and miniaturization. These trends and technologies will help connector sales to the therapeutic equipment industry exceed $1 billion at a CAGR of 5.6% by 2026.

Radiall’s optical interconnect solutions for medical devices include standard interfaces (LC, ST, F-SMA), optical terminals, optical connectors, and custom optical assemblies and subsystems for medical oxygen sensors, intra-aortic balloon catheters, and laser treatment devices. Radiall’s fiber interconnect solutions are based on physical contact (PC) and expanded beam (EB) technologies, including its innovative EB-LuxCis expanded beam optical connector.

Get to know the connector: ARINC 600

What are ARINC 600 rack and panel connectors?

ARINC 600 connectors are standardized rack and panel connectors used primarily for avionics applications. This modular packaging standard provides mechanical, electrical, and environmental interfaces between line replaceable units (LRUs) and racks or cabinets. It takes the form of a rectangular molded insulator in a metal or composite housing, each of which is provided with application-specific contact combinations in various configurations that support high-speed data, power, signal, and fiber optics ( with adapters). The casings are usually mounted by screws or welding. ARINC 600 connectors are available in twinax, coaxial, and quadrax configurations.

The ARINC 600 is a significant offering available from many connector companies, especially those with experience in the aerospace and military markets.

Configuration advantages:

ARINC 600 connectors can be specified with application-specific insert arrangements for fiber, coaxial and power connections, including twinax and quadrax, Ethernet, Firewire, 100 Base-T and Fiber Channel formats. Inserts are typically field replaceable and many versions provide blind mating. For more information, click here.
